How does the commission process work?
Send me a message on my Contact page letting me know your needs. Once I know all the details, I can give you a custom quote. Commission paintings are priced based on size and number of subjects and pricing is listed under the Commissions tab. I require a 50% deposit to begin a commission with the other half due upon completion. Payment is invoiced via Square and can be paid online via credit card. I require high resolution photos for reference that are well-lit and in focus photos (iPhone photos typically work well) and several photos are helpful. Once I have the deposit and photos, I begin a pencil sketch of the painting. I email the pencil sketch for your approval before starting the final painting. Turnaround time depends on my schedule and the size/complexity of the painting. A final invoice is sent upon completion and pickup or shipping is arranged.
What Materials do you use?
I use professional grade watercolors ( Schmincke, Sennelier, and Daniel Smith) on heavyweight cold pressed watercolor paper. Graphite is used to draw the sketch and details are highlighted with Staedtler fineliner pens. Each commission comes unframed and packed in an archival plastic sleeve backed with acid-free matboard.
Are There any Additional fees?
All of my paintings are subject to Wisconsin sales tax (5.5%). Any shipping is an additional fee and I can give you an estimate with your initial quote (I ship via USPS).
